Promises

When in recovery weather it be an AA/NA meeting or rehab, we have all heard about the 12 step program. Today, I would like to share something you may not have heard about and that is the Promises. I am sharing my personal journey of recoverywhen I blog and how the first promise and first reward worked for me. I hope that someone can find a glimmer of hope and reach out for help in some way.

It’s hard to imagine freedom from the chains we have binded ourselves with while using substance. The insanity of every waking thought is consumed with how to get more. The first promise,

WE ARE GOING TO KNOW A NEW FREEDOM AND A NEW HAPPINESS.

It is hard to comprehend while under the influence and even in the beginning of our recovery. Once we have gained some clarity, it is refreshing to meet, know and experience the freedom! The freedom from the insanity of substance use disorder (SUD). To be able to have freedom in our minds and bodies from the substance that once controlled us. When we first experience this freedom and we take some time to sit and reflect on our freedom, we are able to feel a new kind of happiness! Happiness that today, we do not have to lie, steal or demean ourselves for that next high. Happiness knowing that we wake up well and not sick. It brings us the reward of the first promise,

THERE IS HOPE FOR TODAY AND NOT DESPERATION!

Hope that today we might feel a little bit better than yesterday. Hope that today we can have a moment of clarity or revelation. Hope that today we can attempt to accomplish a task successfully. If we are not successful at completing that task, we find happiness in that fact that we tried and with another day of recovery, we have hope that we will be able to try again with more success than the first time.

With all that I said here, I want you to know that you are NOT ALONE! There are many people who are right where you are. There are those, like myself who have been there and still use this mentaility today in everyday life. Again, I am sharing my own personal outlook and opinions of recovery and the promises in hopes of helping someone through their day. If you would like to talk, please feel free to email me at michelle.deavitt@gmail.com as we are still looking to get our website more user friendly with buttons and easy clicking ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰ Blessed Be, God Bless, Namaste, Peace&Love
